Today, we want to give you a glimpse into the life of James and share why he’s not just a tech expert but also a valuable member of our community.
A Two-Decade Journey in IT
James has been immersed in the world of information technology for two decades, gaining valuable experience that has helped shape Garvey’s IT Services into the thriving company it is today. He embarked on his IT journey as an IT Engineer, dedicating three years to mastering the intricacies of the field. Over time, he climbed the ranks, spending a remarkable 12 years as an IT Manager. His extensive background in IT paved the way for him to realize his dream, and in January 2018, he founded Garvey’s IT Services Ltd.
A Hub for IT Solutions
Garvey’s IT Services specializes in IT Support, Consultancy, Web Design, Hosting, and SEO Services. Our mission at Garvey’s IT is to serve as a one-stop-shop for all our customers’ IT needs. From supplying and repairing PCs and laptops to data recovery, network design, cloud services, cybersecurity, web design, and hosting, we’ve got you covered.
The Infamous “Hello”
One amusing quirk about James is his infamous “terrible phone manner.” If you’ve ever called us and been greeted with a simple “Hello,” rest assured, it’s not a wrong number. James tends to get so engrossed in his work that he forgets his manners. But behind that initial greeting lies a dedicated professional committed to ensuring our clients’ needs are met.
Family and Football
James’ life extends beyond the confines of the office. He shares his world with his wife, Michaela, and their two children, Maesie-Claire and Lucas-Francis. In a heartwarming twist of fate, in 2019, James and Michaela welcomed their nieces, Billie-Jo and Frankie-Rae, into their family. In 2020, their guardianship was formalized, completing their beautiful family. James has been expertly mentored by Sharon & Frank who brought him up the way he is, many would say he is “just like them” in being the nicest person in the room.
James is not just an IT expert and a family man; he’s also deeply passionate about football. Inspired by Maesie’s switch from gymnastics to football at the age of nine, James obtained his level 1 coaching certification and became actively involved in coaching. Today, he manages both the U10s and U18s teams at Stockton Town FC and coaches the ladies’ team. His dedication to the sport extends to his family, with Michaela, Maesie & Lucas also playing for Stockton Town whilst the twins both play football with Kiddy Kickz.
In 2020, James had his sights set on completing a Level 2 coaching qualification, but the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted those plans. However, in 2022, he enrolled in the UEFA C Coaching qualification, successfully completing it in 2023, officially earning the title of a Qualified UEFA C football coach.
A Commitment to Community
James’s reserved demeanour might lead him to keep many of his activities under wraps, but his actions in the community speak volumes. He’s not just a tech whiz but also a pillar in the community, especially at Stockton Town FC. His generosity shines through in his contributions to various causes and regular donations to food banks. At Stockton Town FC, he’s given hundreds of hours as a volunteer, assisting with IT requirements, bar management, coaching teams, and even joining the board of Directors to contribute to the club’s operation.
