Windows 7 End of Life — Why Upgrading Still Matters
Archived advice from 2019 on Windows 7 support ending — still relevant if any PCs run unsupported operating systems.

Microsoft ended free security updates for Windows 7 in January 2020. Machines left on unsupported versions are far easier targets for ransomware and viruses.
The same principle applies today: patch operating systems, retire obsolete hardware where practical, and verify backups before an incident — not after.
